Welcome!

I've finally decided that I am a writer - all the other things I do just pay the bills. Someone eloquent once said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, let's just see about that.

RIP Aggie

RIP Aggie
Aggie was my fifteen-year-old cairn terrier - or maybe I should say I was her 55-year-old person! She was my faithful companion, spoiled rotten and I am still trying to figure out what to do without her.

Peter the Cat...

Peter the Cat...
This is Peter the gingersnap tabby! He's seven years old and has just been promoted to Peter the Very, Very Good. He is working his way up to Peter the Great...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...
Bee is Peter's buddy. He's eight years old and has made himself right at home. I guess cats really do come in pairs or sets of three!

And Jasper makes three!

And Jasper makes three!
Jasper is our new guy - the Cat From Another Place. He's four years old and we think he likes it here - so far, so good!

Thanksgiving...

decorations are out - and I am enjoying the scent of the cinnamon candle warmer today.  Fortunately, Peter learned to leave candles alone at the office, so I can have a lighted candle on my desk most of the time.  I got these pretty fall leaf candle holders at a PartyLite party several years ago.  It was the first time I'd ever been to one of those hen parties, and I think they're awfully overpriced, but I fell in love with these fall decorations and Tim got them for me.  My little bear Pilgrims have been around forever - and they make their appearance every year.  I am especially fond of the cornhusk doll.
My friend Beth from high school gave me this doll many, many years ago.  I think we were in tenth grade - so let's see - about thirty-six years ago.  It's an antique - like me!  I made Beth a Holly Hobbie doll, which was all the rage back then.  Preserving this doll for that long was no mean feat - considering the fact that our cats loved to chew anything that made a crunching noise.
She's still my favorite fall decoration!

  1. Over the last few years I've moved away from "Halloween" decorations and more to an "autumn" theme that can stay up until I'm ready to put Christmas up.

Your post made me realize that I'd not lit my candle warmer yet this year, so I took care of it. Thanks to you the house now smells like spice!
