Welcome!

I've finally decided that I am a writer - all the other things I do just pay the bills. Someone eloquent once said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, let's just see about that.

RIP Aggie

RIP Aggie
Aggie was my fifteen-year-old cairn terrier - or maybe I should say I was her 55-year-old person! She was my faithful companion, spoiled rotten and I am still trying to figure out what to do without her.

This is Peter the gingersnap tabby! He's seven years old and has just been promoted to Peter the Very, Very Good. He is working his way up to Peter the Great...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...
Bee is Peter's buddy. He's eight years old and has made himself right at home. I guess cats really do come in pairs or sets of three!

Jasper is our new guy - the Cat From Another Place. He's four years old and we think he likes it here - so far, so good!

It's finally Friday!

It's finally Friday - and I am looking forward to baking a carrot cake this weekend. Okay, so it's just a mix, but I've been in the mood to cook and a carrot cake sounded good. It's not like I really cook anything extraordinary for just me and the dogs - pasta is as fancy as we get! Yes, Aggie and Monty like spaghetti even if Mom doesn't put any meat in the sauce. Most of the time the "sauce" is just a can of seasoned diced tomatoes! One of their favorite meals - and mine, too - is hot dogs with sauerkraut. We haven't had that since I learned that sauerkraut is not a good thing to eat then you have a sore throat. So anyway, I'm baking a carrot cake this weekend - and maybe some brownies for the freezer. I also have a box of pound cake mix in the cupboard... It's not that I especially want to eat this stuff - I just like making it. Silly, huh? I have been keeping goodies in the freezer for when someone stops by - it's always nice to share.

  1. Dawn, I always remember you fondly as a great baker, you were always bringing yummy stuff into the office to share with us. You are being too modest, don't forget, you are published too- in Gooseberry Patch!!
