Welcome!

I've finally decided that I am a writer - all the other things I do just pay the bills. Someone eloquent once said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, let's just see about that.

RIP Aggie

RIP Aggie
Aggie was my fifteen-year-old cairn terrier - or maybe I should say I was her 55-year-old person! She was my faithful companion, spoiled rotten and I am still trying to figure out what to do without her.

Peter the Cat...

Peter the Cat...
This is Peter the gingersnap tabby! He's seven years old and has just been promoted to Peter the Very, Very Good. He is working his way up to Peter the Great...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...
Bee is Peter's buddy. He's eight years old and has made himself right at home. I guess cats really do come in pairs or sets of three!

And Jasper makes three!

And Jasper makes three!
Jasper is our new guy - the Cat From Another Place. He's four years old and we think he likes it here - so far, so good!

They say wireless is better...

but I am old and not terribly techno-proficient and well, there are just days when I hate the danged internet and everything it attempts to make possible.  My business phone is voice-over IP with my business internet set-up.  I've discovered I can't keep my business phone number if I move my set-up home and get residential service (which is half the price, by the way).  So, I'm moving the business service home, and if I drop my fax line, with the new contract it's $60 cheaper than I'm currently paying, so I guess that's something to be thankful for.  Well, as if in response to my being cheap, getting rid of a seldom-used phone line and scheduling the service move for next week, my VOIP modem died.  Dead. RIP dead.  Graveyard dead.  The service guy had to come out and replace it.  I have also discovered that part of my recent internet difficulties have been my wireless network - the brainchild of my engineer husband.  So, I've bid farewell to wireless once and for all - I've disconnected the router from everything and run one long ethernet cable from my cable modem to my PC.  Voila!  No more difficulties - well, except for the dead VOIP phone thing, but that was a fluke of some kind.  So for the next few days - and when I am finally settled into my home office - we are hard-wired!  No more wireless for me!
