Welcome!

I've finally decided that I am a writer - all the other things I do just pay the bills. Someone eloquent once said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, let's just see about that.

RIP Aggie

RIP Aggie
Aggie was my fifteen-year-old cairn terrier - or maybe I should say I was her 55-year-old person! She was my faithful companion, spoiled rotten and I am still trying to figure out what to do without her.

Peter the Cat...

Peter the Cat...
This is Peter the gingersnap tabby! He's seven years old and has just been promoted to Peter the Very, Very Good. He is working his way up to Peter the Great...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...
Bee is Peter's buddy. He's eight years old and has made himself right at home. I guess cats really do come in pairs or sets of three!

And Jasper makes three!

And Jasper makes three!
Jasper is our new guy - the Cat From Another Place. He's four years old and we think he likes it here - so far, so good!

Some people...

just don't have a filter in their brains to regulate what potentially hurtful things they say to other people.  Whatever comes into their minds just comes right out of their mouths.  Actually, I know several people like that.  But tonight I was talking to Tim's aunt in Pennsylvania who, for some inexplicable reason, said to me, "Hey, did you hear that Tim's getting married?"  I replied, "Tim who?"  She hesitated a minute.  "You know, your Tim."  Notice her brain made her hesitate only after she had let the cat out the bag, so to speak.  Needless to say, I was taken aback because I am not sure how he can marry someone else when he is still legally married to me, but I am in uncharted waters here.  I've only been married once, so this whole divorce thing is new to me.  I haven't seen nor have I signed any papers.  When I had collected myself, I asked who he was marrying.  "Oh, someone in Erie," she told me.  I asked where she had gotten her information.  She said that her cousin had told her - the same cousin (and her husband) that Tim stayed with when he first went to work in Erie almost two years ago.  When she realized that I was shocked, she apologized and said that she thought I knew.  I mean, who would bother to tell me?  It's true - the wife is always the last to know.  I also thought I was all cried out and that nothing that happened would hurt me anymore, but I was wrong.  It isn't that I held out any hope of Tim wanting to come back, or that I even want him to, it's just that I thought he might have the decency to tell me to my face that he really does want a divorce and that he has found someone else.  Men just don't get it - we may not want to hear the truth if a pair of jeans really does make our butts look fat - but we actually do want to hear the truth about what's really going on in a relationship.

  2. Dawn,
Linda, above me in the comments, knows of what she speaks. I bow to her since my now defunct marriage was ONLY 30 years!!! There wasn't a day the first 3-4 years after my divorse that I didn't have some sort of thoughts, fleeting or not, about my ex. This, in spite of the fact I knew I was happier...I realized I was over it when he was no longer in my head. Life will be what you make of it and you've got the goods...You're going to be fine and a better woman for it. It just takes time.

  3. Hi Dawn,
I know it can be tough and hurtful, but in time it passes. I had a similar situation. It took me a long time to get over it but I eventually did. But I cried, got angry, got depressed; and then someday I noticed I was happy. Email or call whenever you need to talk.

    Take Care!
    Yoli :)

  4. Hi, i came across your blog from Glimpse , well shute cant remember the whole name. VAleries blog!

Anyhoo.. read some of your posts and this one and your right some people just need to" insert foot " in there mouths. Deep down i think she was being a little cruel on purpose. Whatever her purpose was , the "little evil person" we all have inside us came out. Some of us know how to control it..lol. Sounds like to me your better off without him anyways. If he is that dumb to think he can get married without legally ending his first, I cant imagine what u had to deal with being married to him. lol. I feel your pain though. I had a relationship with a lets say "ASSHOLE" for a long time , he called me to tell me he was getting married. I cried. Not because i wanted him back ( hell no) but because i thought for a second "why did he deserve happiness.." Few minutes later i came to my senses and thanked the god above that "it wasnt me who he was marrying." Did i mention he is divorced now.. lol loser. then i met my husband. So there is hope , be it with a man or just yourself. the future will be brighter. mishelle
