Welcome!

I've finally decided that I am a writer - all the other things I do just pay the bills. Someone eloquent once said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, let's just see about that.

RIP Aggie

RIP Aggie
Aggie was my fifteen-year-old cairn terrier - or maybe I should say I was her 55-year-old person! She was my faithful companion, spoiled rotten and I am still trying to figure out what to do without her.

Peter the Cat...

Peter the Cat...
This is Peter the gingersnap tabby! He's seven years old and has just been promoted to Peter the Very, Very Good. He is working his way up to Peter the Great...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...
Bee is Peter's buddy. He's eight years old and has made himself right at home. I guess cats really do come in pairs or sets of three!

And Jasper makes three!

Jasper is our new guy - the Cat From Another Place. He's four years old and we think he likes it here - so far, so good!

Ladies who lunch...

at Perkins?  That would be my friend, Heather, and me.  I met her for a Christmas lunch today at our local Perkins (I love those potato pancakes!) and a catch-up chat.  I haven't seen her for about a month; last time we got together we noshed on Boar's Head chicken breast sandwiches on fresh five-grain italian bread from Publix at my desk.  I'm happy to say that her life is drama-free right now (mine always is!) and we chatted about regular stuff and our plans for the holiday.  She lives with her cousin and it would seem that Jack is in bah-humbug mode - but maybe he'll catch some holiday cheer before next weekend.  Lunch was good.  No, I didn't order the potato pancakes because, well, I can make latkes at home and the Spinach Bacon & Tomato Biscuit Bake had me at hello.  This time the entree actually did live up to the glamorous food-stylist photo on the shiny menu cover - it was like a little quiche baked into a biscuit crust.  Heather had a Honey Mustard Chicken Salad (and it looked good) - but I can't go to that restaurant without ordering a breakfast-y thing.  We vowed to get together again soon and I headed back home to the four-footed fur kids and some Christmas gift-wrapping.  I haven't wrapped a thing yet and Aggie looks so cozy on her pillow on the sofa that I am contemplating taking a nap.  It's a dreary day outside - the kind that God created just for naps!

  1. Sounds like a lovely afternoon! I have been sewing and cleaning. Louis Dean has been making more messes....in the kitchen now 'fixin' a cupboard door. That should give me another cleaning chore~

  2. I love the potato pancakes at Perkins, but haven't been there to have any in ages and ages. Glad you had a nice catch up with your friend. She looks very nice. Go ahead, take your nap. The wrapping can wait. Or better yet just use gift bags--they're reusable. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
    Best,

  3. I was wondering how those biscuit bowl thingies were. The TV ads are getting to me, too.
I vote you get a nap in. Rainy and dreary here in Tampa. Just baked cookies for an open house tonight so I think I need a little nap to "refresh".
