Welcome!

I've finally decided that I am a writer - all the other things I do just pay the bills. Someone eloquent once said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, let's just see about that.

RIP Aggie

RIP Aggie
Aggie was my fifteen-year-old cairn terrier - or maybe I should say I was her 55-year-old person! She was my faithful companion, spoiled rotten and I am still trying to figure out what to do without her.

Peter the Cat...

Peter the Cat...
This is Peter the gingersnap tabby! He's seven years old and has just been promoted to Peter the Very, Very Good. He is working his way up to Peter the Great...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...
Bee is Peter's buddy. He's eight years old and has made himself right at home. I guess cats really do come in pairs or sets of three!

And Jasper makes three!

And Jasper makes three!
Jasper is our new guy - the Cat From Another Place. He's four years old and we think he likes it here - so far, so good!

I guess it's the current state of the economy...

but it's almost as hard to find a UPS drop box as it is to find a USPS mailbox these days!  I was trying to do the right thing - be green - recycle - whatever you want to call it when I set out on my quick lunchtime errands today.  Last week I replaced the color toner cartridges in my new printer for the first time and I diligently packed the empty ones back up in the boxes and affixed the pre-addressed return labels.  I set them aside hoping my nice UPS man would deliver a package and I could just hand them off to him.  He's nice that way.  Well, after a week of waiting and no UPS man, I put them in the car and decided to drop them off at the nearest drop box the next time I ventured out into the world.  I had to take the trash out today and check the mail so I decided to go by the UPS box and deposit my three parcels.  An hour later, having driven by all of the locations where I once believed UPS boxes to be, those three parcels are still in my car.  Can it be that UPS has scaled down on their drop boxes in the same extreme manner as the US Postal Service?  At this point, the only place I have been able to find an actual mailbox is in front of the post office!  And get this: the post office has a FedEx drop box right by its front door - but no box for UPS.  On the bright side, I got rid of my meager bag of trash, had lunch at Arby's and Ray got to go for a nice ride.  Not a total waste of a lunch hour.

  1. We don't have any UPS drop boxes here. However, there are "mail specialty" type shops who will ship boxes for you via UPS. If you already have a preaddressed label on your box, you just need to drop it off. I do a lot of shipping, so have an account with UPS and can print my labels on my printer. My big complaint is how expensive shipping is getting. But, I do understand why it's increasing.

  2. I don't think I've ever used a UPS drop box. There's a UPS store about ten minutes away, or I could drop it off at Office Depot
