Welcome!

I've finally decided that I am a writer - all the other things I do just pay the bills. Someone eloquent once said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, let's just see about that.

RIP Aggie

RIP Aggie
Aggie was my fifteen-year-old cairn terrier - or maybe I should say I was her 55-year-old person! She was my faithful companion, spoiled rotten and I am still trying to figure out what to do without her.

Peter the Cat...

Peter the Cat...
This is Peter the gingersnap tabby! He's seven years old and has just been promoted to Peter the Very, Very Good. He is working his way up to Peter the Great...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...
Bee is Peter's buddy. He's eight years old and has made himself right at home. I guess cats really do come in pairs or sets of three!

And Jasper makes three!

And Jasper makes three!
Jasper is our new guy - the Cat From Another Place. He's four years old and we think he likes it here - so far, so good!

It's back...

I am plagued with insomnia once again.  I'd actually been sleeping for more than two hours at a time since we moved to the new apartment.  Being away from the sidewalk and 2:30 am pizza guy has helped alot!  And now, out of the blue, I am sleeping for an hour and then I'm awake for three or four.  Then when it's time to get up, I am so sleepy I can hardly keep my eyes open.  Petey has even started sleeping in the night and not running around from room to room chasing imaginary nothings.  I've tried going to bed early, tiring myself out and not trying to sleep until midnight, drinking chamomile tea, taking Tylenol PM - nothing is working.  To make matters worse, I've had the exploding Pope dream twice this week and I wake up screaming.  I mean, what must my neighbors think?  Aggie snores undisturbed all night long.  That must be what they mean when they say "it's a dog's life."
Any suggestions?

  1. Dawn,
I too, suffer from insomnia, but it doesn't sound as bad as yours. I feel I'm getting a full nights sleep if I get five hours. I go to bed dead tired, as soon as I shut the light off it's as though my brain kicks into overdrive and I'm wide awake. Haven't found anything that works. Maybe it's true you need less sleep as you age(???)
