Welcome!

I've finally decided that I am a writer - all the other things I do just pay the bills. Someone eloquent once said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, let's just see about that.

RIP Aggie

RIP Aggie
Aggie was my fifteen-year-old cairn terrier - or maybe I should say I was her 55-year-old person! She was my faithful companion, spoiled rotten and I am still trying to figure out what to do without her.

Peter the Cat...

Peter the Cat...
This is Peter the gingersnap tabby! He's seven years old and has just been promoted to Peter the Very, Very Good. He is working his way up to Peter the Great...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...
Bee is Peter's buddy. He's eight years old and has made himself right at home. I guess cats really do come in pairs or sets of three!

And Jasper makes three!

And Jasper makes three!
Jasper is our new guy - the Cat From Another Place. He's four years old and we think he likes it here - so far, so good!

Required annual reading...

Well, it's January and I am about halfway finished reading my first novel of the year.  Yes, it's always Gone With the Wind - the first grown-up book I ever read.  Okay, my first adult book might have been Mistress of Mellyn by Victoria Holt, but I'm fairly sure it was GWTW.  I wish I could say why I love it so much, or why it inspires me to write, but I can't.  It's just a great book.  I actually hate that scheming, ruthless bitch Scarlett, but I adore Mammy and Rhett and Melanie.  I have absolutely no idea whatsoever Scarlett (or Melanie) ever saw in that wimpy Ashley Wilkes and it irks me that the movie left out characters and messed with the timeline, but I still love to visit the world Margaret Mitchell created.

  1. I'm sending Paige to spend some time with you. You two can pick apart GWTW. She has read 3-4 times and she's only 14. She doesn't like how the movie changed things either and can't stand Ashley W. It is a great piece of literature I know, but I've never read it thru. Makes my daughter mad.

  2. I've always enjoyed reading Civil War novels! GWTW was one of the first I read at a very young age and have revisited a few times. What a fabulous American classic!
