Welcome!

I've finally decided that I am a writer - all the other things I do just pay the bills. Someone eloquent once said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, let's just see about that.

RIP Aggie

RIP Aggie
Aggie was my fifteen-year-old cairn terrier - or maybe I should say I was her 55-year-old person! She was my faithful companion, spoiled rotten and I am still trying to figure out what to do without her.

Peter the Cat...

Peter the Cat...
This is Peter the gingersnap tabby! He's seven years old and has just been promoted to Peter the Very, Very Good. He is working his way up to Peter the Great...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...

Bee - the Cat Who Came From Somewhere Else...
Bee is Peter's buddy. He's eight years old and has made himself right at home. I guess cats really do come in pairs or sets of three!

And Jasper makes three!

And Jasper makes three!
Jasper is our new guy - the Cat From Another Place. He's four years old and we think he likes it here - so far, so good!

Grey Gardens...

Aggie and I watched Grey Gardens last night.  Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange were perfect casting for Big Edie and Little Edie Beale!  If you've never seen the original documentary, by all means watch it before you see the movie version.  I ran across the original one night several years ago while I was channel-surfing and it was like a complete train wreck.  I wanted to change the channel, but I couldn't stop watching.  I was so fascinated that I set the TiVo to record the whole thing.  Of course, I could see how I could become Big Edie the crazy cat lady - it was horrifying! - and the mother/daughter dynamic between the two hit pretty close to home, too.  The new movie version is like watching an enhanced version of the documentary; the protrayals of the Beales are spot-on and the "live action" drama is wonderful.  Jeanne Tripplehorn does a  good job as Jackie Kennedy, who comes to the rescue of her relatives, albeit almost too little, too late.

  1. I've heard about this, but never watched it. Isn't there an older version and a newer one.
